There are a lot of things that I learned at the pool but theres a few that have stuck out over the last 4 years.
- Take charge when needed. Sometimes things don’t get done unless we do them, recently I read on of the coolest things that fits right in with this, “Work like it depends on you but pray like it depends on God.”
- No matter how much you know, you don’t know everything. I think one of the most powerful things is being able to admit that you need help.
- Question to find out why but then submit to authority. I fully believe we are called to submit to authority, this is our bosses, police officers, parents, whoever it may be..BUT I also know, that power can be taken advantage of so question in, be informed!
- Not everyone is meant to be in your life forever. Some are meant for a season and some are meant for many years. Enjoy the time you have while you’ve got it.
- People love to know they are heard. Most people don’t talk just to hear their own voice, no they talk because they have something with the intention of people hearing.
- Being a team & a family is huge. This is one of the biggest strengths you can have in this world. Have each other’s backs, take care of each other and be a shoulder to lean on.
- It totally doesn’t matter what people think. In reality, you will never be able to satisfy every person you meet. Actually..you won’t be able to satisfy anyone that you meet. That’s because God is the only one that can fully satisfy us. So be bold, introduce yourself, make a joke, laugh like an idiot, ask the real questions.
I owe a big part of who I am to what this job has taught me. It was my co-workers, my community and the YMCA for making the last four years of my life unforgettable and for giving me the courage to step out into the world that I have learned is not so scary after all.
I’m still believing for $450 by Tuesday, 9/19! If you feel called to donate click on the Donate button above this post. (everything donated on this page is tax deductible.)
More importantly than funds, I am in need of prayer as I am closing up the season I am in and walking into this new season.
I leave in about 3 weeks! I would love to grab coffee with anybody before I leave. 🙂
Grace & peace.
