Wow, it is hard to believe that Month 3 has come and passed already! Here is my ministry photo recap blog of my team’s time in Plovdiv, Bulgaria during month 3!
Fun fact, Plovdiv will be the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
Be ready for ALL of the photos—this month really taught us what living missionally looked like because ministry included everything!
Part of ministry the last week and a half included painting our host’s missionary organization’s new office.
We also helped with a college-aged English Club every Monday night that had different themes—the themes ranged anywhere from fears (in honor of Halloween) to coffee and we had an absolute blast! (I even learned how to salsa dance one night—sort of.)
Additionally, ministry included going through donated clothing boxes and pairing together hats, scarfs, and gloves to go into Christmas goodie boxes for the nearby Roma villages—this picture is of Marissa sorting all of the scarves and hats.
Additionally, on Wednesday nights we helped out with a younger children’s English class. The activities ranged anywhere from flashcards, to singing and dancing, to games of Twister, to even a lead each other around blind obstacle course—which Brittany is beautifully demonstrating in the photo above!
Continuing, ministry looked like baking as well! This was Marissa’s FAVORITE part of ministry because we made lots of pies, cookies, and muffins that were then frozen to be served later this month during a village outreach in the mountains over American Thanksgiving week!
Again, continuing, ministry looked like Occupational Therapy! Marissa and I had a wonderful opportunity to pair up with an occupational therapist, Miss Grace, and went on patient visits with her where we met a wonderful lady named Slovka—my Baba. Slovka has truly been a blessing, far more than I would have ever thought possible and I have learned so much from her and her perseverance and love of the Lord.
Last but not least, a special ministry for me was a Murder Mystery Night that was planned for the English Club. I headed up this portion of ministry and created all of the files and documents for 24 people to be able to play a Live Clue game. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend due to being sick; however, Melissa rocked emceeing!
One more thing, Savannah and I had an amazing time getting to know some lovely people from Plovdiv, two of which—Vlad and his girlfriend Nikki—invited us over to her apartment and cooked us an amazing meal. We were able to have amazing fellowship and create friendships with people that we will never forget!
So that is my recap of my month of ministry in Plovdiv, Bulgaria! Please remember to keep them all in your prayers. 🙂
