This month we had our Parent Vision Trip (PVT) in Tbilisi, Georgia (not the state ;)). Although my parents were not able to come, PVT was a great week of getting to meet other Racers’ parents and learn from them. Because we are Expedition, we all got to be together. During the week we had a lot of sessions for worship, sharing stories, and prayer. Each day we did a different kind of ministry, like outreach, prayer walking, and teaching English. It was probably one of the busiest weeks of the Race so far, but we also had some time to walk around Tbilisi, which is beautiful and charming.
To be honest though, the best part of PVT had nothing to do with parents, Tbilisi, or even the delicious bread bowls that put Panera to shame. It was God beginning to walk me through personal healing. I grew a lot from the things that He revealed to me inside and outside of sessions. I wrote a blog about those things but decided not to make it public, at least not any time soon. If you would like to read it though, please reach out to me and I’d be happy to send it to you individually.
After Georgia, we took an overnight bus into Turkey. You know what is even more fun than being on a (non-sleeper) bus overnight? Being woken up at 3 a.m. to cross the border with all of your bags. But although I wasn’t feeling it at 3 a.m., I am now very excited and grateful to be in Turkey, because it was one of the main countries on our route that I wanted to go to.
We spent our first five days here in the back hills of Ephesus, where we participated in a 100 hour prayer and worship event. We were there to volunteer with childcare and cleaning, but we also got to spend a lot of time worshipping in the main room as well. Our team had two time slots to lead worship. One of them was from 5 to 7 a.m. For part of it, Anna played piano and I sang. It was maybe not the smoothest set of the 100 hours, but it was a lot of fun and cool to be a part of the event.
Tonight we are taking yet another overnight bus to Istanbul, but thankfully, no border crossing this time. More updates to come! Let me know how I can be praying for all of you!
