By now, some of you have received letters from me in the mail or by e-mail. I will continue sending out letters to new people throughout the year, but I would also like to put a copy of my letter on my blog too, in case any one who I haven’t reached out to is interested in my story and wants to be a part of what I am doing.
So little about me, for those who may not know me that well: I attended Arcadia University from 2009-2013. During this time I had several opportunities to travel overseas and to become involved in campus ministries both at home and abroad. After graduation, I taught English in South Korea for three years, where I was involved with the church and volunteered at a local orphanage. I came home in November 2016 because I felt it was time to move on to the next thing God was calling me to.
Over the past few years, I have dreamed of doing something called the World Race, and starting in January 2018, I finally have the opportunity to go and do it. The World Race is a missions trip to 11 countries in 11 months. In this time you do a variety of ministries, such as teaching English, manual labor, volunteering in orphanages, and helping out in refugee camps. My route, the Expedition Route, focuses on a region of the world referred to as the 10/40 Window, where few people ever have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. I believe the World Race is God’s next step for me because He has given me a passion for travel and the desire to serve people in simple and practical ways. Furthermore, it is my desire to be a missionary long term, and the World Race will give me the chance to see what kind of ministry I am most effective at, and what region of the world I should dedicate a larger portion of my life to. Ideally, I hope to find a ministry to commit to long term.
In order to go on this trip, I need your help. I am relying on God to provide through the financial giving and prayers of others. The trip costs $18,700, which includes travel costs, food, lodging, administrative costs, and health insurance. Donations can be made online through my blog www.ashleyhable.theworldrace.org by pushing the donate button at the top. Checks should be made out to Adventures in Missions with my name as a memo on the bottom. Donations are tax deductible and any amount is highly appreciated.
I also need your prayers. There is a physical component- that I must be able to hike 4 miles with a heavy pack in under an hour, and hike up to 18 miles in two days. Such a thing is only possible through the grace of God, and I need your help through prayer and encouragement to achieve it. I also need prayer for my health, safety, spiritual growth, and emotional health on the trip as well. In whatever capacity you are willing to be a part of my trip, I would be happy to have you as a partner in this journey.
Adventures In Missions is a tax-exempt organization under IRS code 501(c)(3) and is a member of the ECFA. (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). Due to IRS and ECFA regulations governing the administration of tax deductible donations given in support of a particular trip/program, support contributions given on behalf of an individual will be used to offset the costs of the trip/program you are involved in. All contributions are non-refundable regardless of the participant’s success in completing the program.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I will write a new blog post soon to tell you more about where I am going, answer any questions (please post them as comments!), and give a few more specific prayer requests. I hope to hear from you soon!
