After about six years of reading World Race blogs, just under 100% of them written by strangers, I’m sitting here writing my very first blog, anticipating seeing mine come up on the “wall” of the last 100 blogs written by World Race participants. It’s real…it’s actually here.

What is real and here, you may ask? For those of you I haven’t told yet, I was just accepted to an 11 month missions trip called the World Race with Adventures in Missions. I will be on a route called the Expedition Route, which focuses on a region of the world referred to as the 10/40 window, a region 10 to 40 degrees north of the equator where there are very few Christians and many people never have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. The trip will involve many different types of ministry in at least 11 different locations. I am looking forward to the opportunity to tell people about Jesus, minister to refugees, volunteer in orphanages, teach English, and whatever else the Race might bring. Part of why I feel called to the Race, and even this route in particular, is that I want to be a missionary long term but do not know exactly what I want to do and where I would be most useful. The Race gives me an opportunity to discover those things while ministering to real people along the way. It is also a discipleship program where I will live in close community with a group of other believers where we will constantly encourage each other to grow in our faith.

I will write a support raising letter/blog in the coming week or two to give you more information about how you can become involved. For now, if you feel led to give, please click the donate button on the top of this blog. I am just at the beginning of this and any amount would be highly appreciated and encouraging. If you would like to pray, please pray for me as I need to train physically for this trip in a way that cannot be done by my strength alone. By October, I need to be able to hike 4 miles in under an hour with all of my gear! Please pray for discipline and supernatural empowerment.

Thank you for reading, please comment, and let me know if you have any questions!

Love,

Ashley
