So I have been reading through 1 Samuel and I started to get kinda bored. Saul keeps trying to kill David and God continually gets David out of harms way. It seemed like the same thing over and over again. I kept reading because I hate stopping part way and not feeling like I have completed something. Just the other day I felt the need for a break, I turned to psalms, because you know it’s what you turn to when you need some encouragement or need to be pulled out of the mundane.
In psalm 1 David talks about how the Father watches over the way of the righteous and how the wicked will not stand. Hearing David rejoice in the book of psalms, after reading about the trials he walked through in Samuel was amazing. David pursued and found refuge and strength in the Lord. Because of this David was able to walk out on the other side of the storm, as king over Israel. David’s life is a perfect example of how God does not let the plans of the wicked prosper. The way of the wicked leads only to destruction.
Saul’s life was a tragedy, he kept fighting God’s plan and looked to destroy the righteous. God kept tearing down his plans to kill David. Each attempt that Saul made on David’s life, David gained glory and Saul was pushed farther into despair. Which just shows that when we “delight in the law of the Lord, and meditate on his law day and night” we prosper in whatever we do.
“I will not fear though ten of thousands assail me on every side”. Psalms 3:6
