Sweet Child of Mine
When I was on my race, my squad leader Jace, wrote a blog titled “dear little one” where he called out a characteristic of every single racer on our squad that he would want his future child to have. In that same spirit I am going to do this from the team I’ve gotten to love on so well these last three months. Believe me when I say, I will be sobbing the entire time I write this.
Sweet child of mine,
I truly cannot wait to meet you one day, but until then just know I’ve got to have some practice on how to love you. You see, I’m 21 right now and I am currently on the world race again but this time team leading. I get to love 6 amazing gals and I hope you can meet them too.
I hope you do everything with passion and boldness like Makayla. I hope you have such a huge heart for discipleship and have an appreciation for sweet notes like her.
I hope you are as clever and adventurous as Hannah Keller. I hope you are a hard worker and care for other so much that you truly prepare presentation on their behalf.
I hope you are a strong leader always willing to call someone higher in the same way Vale has perfected feedback.
I hope you step out of your comfort zone, and ready for the worst, but experience the best like Chelsea.
I hope you are so self aware and precious like Hannah Sully. I hope you cary such a peace in you like she does.
I hope you are individualistic like Amber. I want you to dance to the beat of your own trumpet, so aware of who you are in Christ like she is.
I hope you are silly when it gets too late like Val and Hannah.
I hope you are as brave as Chelsea and Amber are!

I hope you are as sweet as can be like Hannah Sulivan! If you love back stratches you’re in luck! Thanks to Hannah I’ve perfected the back scratch!

I hope you pull funny harmless pranks like Hannah Keller.
I hope you are constantly processing with the Lord before people, like Val and Hannah.
I hope you are a good dancer like Makayla and Hannah Sully.
I hope when you praise the Lord, you lead others into His presence so beautifully like Makayla.
I hope you walk in obedience like Amber! Doing as the Lord asks even when it feels impossible.
I hope you are an inspiration to others like Val.
You see, sweet future child of mine, I don’t want you to feel pressure of having to accomplish all these things. I do want you to know that these gals have had a lot of time with the Lord in order to walk in all these things. It wasn’t always pretty. I got to be there for the tears, the stubborn times, and the times of not wanting to focus on the depths. In that, I watched these gals press in where it’s tough. Further up and further in. I got to love them through the whole process and let me tell you it’s so worth it. So, as you go through life, sweet child of mine, just know it won’t be easy. But if these gals are capable, so are you.
