I have liked the name Gemi for awhile now. I had big plans to name my 2nd born daughter Gemi and nickname her Gem. Amber is a great name and all, but it just is lacking a fun nickname to toss around. My month 7 on the World Race I was shook with an epiphany. Amber means Jewel, and this whole time someone could have been calling me jewel or gem. That’s the thing about names though, you can’t pick it, it’s given to you.
During the first month of World Race America a teammate challenged me to ask the Lord what He called me. Since I have a tendency to answer for the Spirit before I actually give Him a chance to speak, I thought I knew what he called me. I was so wrong.
A few weeks later I was reading a note from a family that was traveling with us for the first 6 weeks of this thing. They were leaving and were kind enough to write us all a goodbye to look back on. In my note, Bex, wrote, “I keep wanting you to say, you are a gem and I realized that is your name, Amber, a gem. You, like a gem, are unique, valuable, and beautiful.” That is when the Lord hit me with huge revelation. Gem is the name He calls me. Gem is the name He has given to me.
Weeping, I began to look up more about this and the Lord continued to confirm this name for me.
A gem by definition is a precious or semiprecious stone, especially when cut and polished.
A gem is precious to begin with, but to make it the best it can be you have to remove certain parts of it by cutting it up. Then you have to polish it so it can reflect the most light.
I am precious to begin with, but to be able to be the best version of myself and to be all the Lord has created me to be, I have to allow him to work on me. I have to allow Him to remove certain areas that are dead weight. Polish me up so I can can reflect the most Light. Him.
Jesus speaks a lot to me through symbolism, imagery, and visions. So I started looking up facts about gems so he could speak through them and keep confirming the things he was telling me. This is what we found.
There are many semi precious stones out there, but only 4 precious stones in the entire world. Diamond, Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby.
Quickly the Lord told me to focus on the precious stones. Semi precious is still a creation of the Lord, but He views me a fully precious. He knows me. He knows that if I were to claim semi-precious, the enemy will totally use that against me in the future. I am fully known and fully precious.
Do you know what can cut a diamond? Only another diamond. All the lies, shame, condemnation that I feel, it’s as if they are fingerprints on the diamond and causing the light not to be reflected well. He wants to polish me up and remove all the dirt, grime, and lies with it. He started telling me that the only person who can shape me, is Him. There is no other authority that can cut deep into me and remove pieces of me. It always has and always will be, him.
Diamonds are the hardest natural substance. I am pretty tough, even though the enemy really like to show me all the areas I am weak in.
When diamonds are mined they literally have to mine 1 million pounds of rock to get 1 pound of diamond. So diamonds are 1 in a million. Even further though, no diamond is made the same. Even if they look the same in cut and clarity, they will never be the same in characteristics.
A diamond is a symbol of love. That is where the Lord got me, on top of calling me a new name and speaking so much into my identity, he also spoke more. He wants me to see this all in love. I am loved. He is love. This revelation and picture of a gem was given to me to remember it all as a symbol of love.
Last fun fact about diamonds, is that diamond means in the Greek, invincible or indestructible. That’s my Dad, totally invincible and totally indestructible.
The Lord continues to expand this revelation to me and it honestly blows my mind. Out of all the gems, diamond stuck out the most to me at the time, and as I write this I feel like there is more he wants to reveal to me about the other 3 precious stones. So there might be more to come, but for now, this is the revelation He has revealed to me.
I see the Lord kinda like a diamond now. There are so many facets to the Lord. I might be seeing him from the side of love and intentionality right now, but you might be seeing him in faithfulness, patience, peace, or provision. We are looking at the same God, just another facet.
He has given a piece of himself to make me, me. Guess that makes me a chip off the old block.
Love,
Gem
I want to be raw and honest with where I am, and I am struggling financially. The Lord has called me to be with World Race America and we finish up at the end of November. I am fully funded (PRAISE THE LORD!), but I am seriously lacking in personal money. Fundraising covers the cost of lodging at $4 a day, food at $4 a day, travel expenses (gas, washes and cleaning, and maintenance), ministry expenses (this could look like anything like giving a donation to ministries that impact us, creating ministry like putting together homeless bags, etc.). I have $12 of spending money to last until November unless the Lord provides me with more.
This is what I am asking for. Would you consider supporting me through providing personal money for me?
I have Venmo and Paypal (venmo is @ambermannion), if you are interested. If you don’t have either of these but still want to support me, contact me and we can find a way to make it work.
Thank you so much for reading and being interested in the things that the Lord is teaching me and walking me through!
