In Sri Lanka, I read an incredible book about Smith Wigglesworth – a British evangelist who walked in miracles, signs, and wonders. It was on a dusty shelf in a local pastor’s library, and when I pulled it down, something in my spirit said, “You need to read this.” Little did I know how profound of an impact it would have on my life.
Just over a hundred pages long, it told testimonies of the sick being healed, the dead being raised, and thousands of people coming to salvation – all through an uneducated plumber who was unable to read or write until the age of twenty-six.
I was reminded of this simple but powerful truth: God can use ANYONE. The book went on to say, “The success of Wigglesworth’s ministry was not caused by his ability, but rather his availability.” This led me to question: What could God do through my life if I made myself fully available to Him everyday?
Question for you: How “available” do you make yourself to be used by God each day?
Related to this, our squad mentor Stephanie shared three words she received from God a few days ago regarding vision for our month in Nepal: faith, multiplication, and miracles. I’m sooooo ready! Bring it on Jesus!
I’m excited to see what it looks like to live an available life. An interruptible life. An “I’m willing to be inconvenienced” life. Jesus, may it become the norm!
An awesome example of this lifestyle: “One day Wigglesworth visited his friend Miles at his home. Suddenly, Wigglesworth said to him, ‘God is telling me to go to Ilkley Moor.’ He was speaking of a lovely town frequented by tourists about sixteen miles away. When they arrived, they stopped at a spot known as the Cow and Calf Rocks. No soul was in sight, so they seated themselves near an overlook. For some time, nothing happened, causing Miles to think that Wigglesworth must have been mistaken. However Wigglesworth had no misgivings and he was soon proven correct. A young man with a pack on his back appeared and sat down to rest next to Wigglesworth. Soon the two were talking. The man was a backslider who, like the prodigal, was disillusioned with sin. In a few moments, there on the moor, the man knelt with Wigglesworth and joyfully came back to God. Then as suddenly as before, Wigglesworth looked at Miles and said, ‘We can go back now. I have done what God told me to do.’”
Can’t wait to share some of my own stories like this from the streets of Kathmandu and whatever other towns we visit in Nepal! Prayers are welcomed. Stay tuned! 🙂
*P.S. I will be posting my vlog from India soon! I had the opportunity to create some short 30 second videos for an organization we worked with called “India Christian Ministries.” I’m in the process of learning Adobe After Effects to add motion graphics to these videos, so I’ll post them as soon as they’re done!
**P.S.S. I AM FULLY FUNDED!!! Thank you to all my supporters! I wouldn’t be on this wild crazy faith journey without your generosity. I’m discovering God’s heart for the nations like never before, and I can’t thank you enough for making it all possible!
