Hello from Haiti!
Other than my blog about my struggles I haven’t updated you on my ministry since Lesotho Month 7.
I am currently in Haiti Month 10 and will be home in 7 weeks!
So backing up to Month 8.
I was in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, serving an organization called Love Story.
That month I learned a lot about loving without limits, conditions, or expectations.
Love Story runs a great variety of community upliftment projects, education programmes and feeding schemes. (http://www.lovestory.org.za/)
During the days we would help get the food ready, it ranged from cutting vegetables to making peanut butter sandwiches. The food we prepared went to a variety of places. Some went to soup kitchens, schools, or villages. We helped deliver that food during the day and also picked up donations at different grocery stores.
Every evening we went to “City Feed” which was where we served over 120 homeless people dinner.
We also helped them prepare and work events that help fund their organization. (Valley Market, Goodnight Market, & Golf Day)
That month was cut a couple weeks short because of PVT.
Which is PARENT VISION TRIP!
I left Port Elizabeth and headed to Pretoria which was a 17 hour bus ride.
While I was headed there on a long bus ride my parents were boarding a flight from DFW to Johannesburg, South Africa.
They came for an entire week to do ministry with me. It was absolutely amazing. On top of doing ministry during the day we went on a Safari on our off day.
It was so good to see them after 8 months of being away from home.
After PVT our squad went directly into a debrief for a week and then off to Zimbabwe!
It took us 11 hours to get to the boarder of South Africa and Zimbabwe once we arrived it took 10 more hours just to get across. Once we finally made it into Zim we had 4 more hours to Bulawayo. Which is where I spent Month 9!
I will post a blog about Month 9 very soon. But until then, thank you for all of the prayers!
Much love!
