So it has been awhile since I have updated everyone on my life in the mission field. The last update I gave you all was the ministry I was doing all over Malaysia. So I’m going to back track a little.
We met up with our entire squad in Penang, Malaysia at the end of November and we traveled together to Thailand. We took an 18 hour train ride to Bangkok and that is where we had our squad debrief for four days. Debriefs are a time for teams to reflect on the last couple of months the days are filled with teachings, one-on-ones with leadership, and rest. Our theme this debrief was CELEBRATION and taking the time to celebrate God and what he has been doing in our lives. The last day of debrief our squad had the opportunity to go into the red light district and spend time with the girls working. My teammate Madison wrote a beautiful blog about our experience (King’s Corner) you should definitely check it out!
The next day my team and team Abiding Azar (Ahavazar) set out to our ministry location. We took an hour tap tap ride to the YWAM base in Bangkok where we stayed for two days having orientation and meeting some DTS kids. After day two we took an 8 hour bus ride through the night to Khon Kaen. Which is where I currently am and have been for the last 15 days and will be leaving in 2 days.
The last 15 days have been a whirlwind. We have done so many things and seen the Kingdom come numerous times. God has grown me in flexibility and patience. As a group we have had to step into so many different roles, we have been singers, actors, dancers, party planners, construction workers, cooks, preachers, and most importantly friends to the Thai people. Everyday has been different but incredibly fulfilling. Here is a glimpse of our time in Khon Kaen.
Rehabilitation Center
Performed a skit, danced, and shared our stories with them. 11 men came to know Christ during our time there!
Vocational School
Performed a Christmas skit, played games, and got to know the students.
Elementary School
Performed a skit, sang a song, played games, and taught them the church clap.
Orphanage
We did manual labor at Baan Chan orphanage. We shoveled dirt, moved bricks, cleaned up trash, picked up grass, and played with the kiddos.
I have so much to tell you about my Christmas experience here in Thailand but I will post another blog to do so!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
