Ohh, we’re half way there
Oh-oh, livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand, we’ll make it I swear
Oh-oh, livin’ on a prayer
Men Hike 20Jan2018
We started walking from our hostel around 8 am. The walk took about an hour through the city to get to the base of the mountain. We started walking as a group look at a steep incline. I fell behind early and when the mountain path looked it might be leveling out I thought to myself. “I could quit here, I have a nice view of the city here. And this mountain is steep.” I felt God saying, ” Don’t quit keep going! The view from the top is so much better.”
When I got half way and met up with the rest of the guys, I saw the rest of the trail and how much I had to go. It was daunting to me and I didn’t think I could make it to the top. That’s when Ben and I started singing Livin’ on a Prayer. No matter how hard it was or how out of breath, I pressed on with the rest of the guys. The last bit was hard to keep going and not quit.
The walk up the mountain was completely worth it. The three crosses was a good reminder of Jesus. The view of the city from the top was breath taking. (Or I was just out of breath). The rest of the mountains towered over the city and us. Almost as a constant reminder of the greatness of God’s creation compared to what man can create.
As I was walking the path, God was speaking to me. As I looked up the mountain from lower flatter places, God said, “I have a desire for you and so many more to grow higher in their walk with me and our relationship. But so many stop when it levels off. (When it’s easy, boring or they think they made it to the top and they can’t get much more from God) Even though God is still there wooing “There is much more! Keep pressing in.”
Some listen and keep going higher but many stop and remain. For Others, as the walk gets harder, steeper, or exhausted, stop or give up. To these God is calling out, “You’re so close! Don’t give up. Don’t stop. The top of this mountain is worth the struggle. I have so much to show you. I AM your strength. I AM your rest. Keep at it you’re almost there.”
The difficult climb up the mountain was completely worth seeing the three crosses at the top, the view of the city, and fellowship with my brothers in Christ.
