You’ve met my team. Now, meet our new month ten family that we are living with.

Lori and Bobby Leek:

(Mom and Dad). Bobby is retired from the Marine Corps and calls us all his little princesses. He’s a good mix of having a soft heart while screaming up the stairs in his military voice to announce that dinner is ready. I believe that Lori has put atleast 5 lbs on me with her daily home cooking. She exudes the Lord’s love and is constantly serving her family and the church alongside Bobby. They have made us feel really loved and welcomed during our stay. You guys will be missed.

Carol and Javi:

Our soon-to-be married friends. They are spunky and wonderful. I love hearing Carol sing worship on Sundays just as much as I love making wierd faces at Suavi Javi and getting them returned. I wish you all the happiness in your marriage, friends. We love you.

Rebekah and Lauren:

Bekah is a daughter of Lori and Bobby’s. Lauren is living with them while she works here at Young Life. If you ask the fam, they’ll tell you that Lauren is considered another daughter to them. We claim both Lauren and Rebekah as sisters to us. They are so sweet and a joy to be in the house with. Thanks for making every day bright. We love you, ladies.

Lydia:

Beloved snuggle buddy and family dog. It is truly a treat while on The Race to be around a clean dog that you are able to pet and cuddle. Lydia likes to sleep in our room at night where she growls through her exhales while drifting off. She is a spoiled doggie princess and we treat her as such.

We have been working alongside of this beautiful family at Impacto church where Bobby pastors here in Cuenca, Equador. We arrived just in time to see the church upgrading to a larger location! The first week consisted of moving everything into the new building. Then came lots of painting! Our arms were sore from the days of paint rollers, and our abs just as sore from all the laughter we had together.

We cleaned up the debris. Then, after the carpets were shampooed we were able to clean every chair, chip the floors, set up the nursery and place the newly painted furniture around.

We spent our second Sunday here at the very first church service in the new building, and over the next weeks we kept painting. We painted a television station. We also painted the bedrooms and classrooms at an orphanage where middle aged people with mental health issues reside. We were also able to visit an orphanage to help 14 boys sort through newly donated clothes and organize their closets.

Other than that, we have just been living life with the Leeks (which has been the best). Myself and my team immediately loved it here. The church, the town, our family and home for the month have been incredible.

Also, I was blessed to spend my 26th birthday here this week! Whoo-hoo! And just like that, it’s time to pack our bags and head to Colombia! See you in month 11.
