Upon arrival to Hyderabad, India my team and I hopped a bus that drove us an hour to a house. We have been sleeping on floors and taking bucket showers along with eating plenty of rice and curry. Today was our last day of training before we split up into our small teams and head to ministry points.
While I can’t say the name of the place my team is going, I can tell you we are about to be in the bush. We will be traveling by bus to a village where we will be giving many sermons and working to build a well. Each evening we will visit a different pastor and share our testimonies with him and whomever else shows up to listen. This is all about helping people better understand who Jesus is and bringing them into community with one another. If 50 people in one area come together as the church, they are allowed to plant one there.
The area we are going has heavy persecution against Christians. We will not be allowed to leave the guarded compound until nightfall. We will be housed with a Pastor and his family and are very excited to serve them and spend our days preparing our messages for the nights to come. I have been told that this pastor has endured several beatings for his faith uet still stands strongly in it. I cannot wait to meet him.
No, we are not scared! In fact we are very excited and feel abundantly blessed to be going into such an unreached part of this country. This is what Jesus was all about!
We know God’s authority is with us wherever we go. We head from the city to the bush with the intention of church planting. My favorite thing about all of this is seeing how cultural and language barriers are no barriers at all for our God. He has gone ahead of us and goes with us. We are prepared to be outside of our comfort zones to fulfill His plans for our journey through this village over the next 3 weeks. Will you partner with us in praying for both safety and for people to come closer to the Lord during this time?
