Extreme makeover home addition: ecuador style!
Host: hello my name is Tamara mahoney and I will be your host for this weeks episode of extreme Home makeover.
Alright all fun in games. We built a house guys.. an all girls team did it! Proved the boys wrong haha. Her name is Glenda, one of the sweetest ladies I have ever had the honor to meet. Her story is sad but shows light as it goes on. She has four boys, and had a husband. One day her best friend needed a place to stay so she took her in. Ended up Glenda’s best friend ran off with Glenda’s husband leaving her and her boys alone. Their house is up a 13,000 foot mountain and it being a one room house, it was not working for their family. As hard as life was, it started looking up when somehow Pan Da Vida got a hold of her name. With lots of financial support by donors, we got the head builder and materials to make this happen. My team started off when the house was still one room, we had to dig a trench and clean hundreds of bricks. After that work was done we started marking and measuring for the new foundation. A few days later we showed up at the house to a concrete foundation. It was go time now people! Mixing of concrete, placing of bricks, and walls being built started happening quick. It was cool because we had other American teams helping us throughout the process. We got 4 walls up in one day with the many help of others. As a week and some went by we ended up running out of money and materials and thought we would be putting a hold on the house. The lord had other plans though, we had a donor give the right amount to finish the house, all glory be to God right! So three of us, Glenda, and the builder started finishing the house. As the walls got higher, our hearts grew bigger! This house was ready to be finished and Glenda’s family moved in. For three days only the five of us worked for countless hours to finish. We started building the roof the last day we were involved with the process. The house looks amazing! It went from one room to about a five room house! Everyone will fit comfortably. Even though the work was long and tiring the lord gave us the strength we needed. Our hands may be ripped up, our backs aching, and bodies weary but the work we set out to do for finished! And that is all that matters. The lord placed his hand on Glenda’s family and gave us the recourses we needed to build something far greater than just a house. We built a community, a family with Glenda’s. My heart could not be happier! Jesus is such a cool dude! Praise be to God!
