Life on the field is a crazy thing most days. We wake up, do ministry, have team times, laugh, cry, and so on. This month of Zambia I am actually with a different team. I now live with ten girls in a very un air-conditioned house. If you know me than you are probably thinking “WHAT.. tam in a house of ten girls”, yeah it was crazy for me also. Honestly though, I love living with all girls. Last month it was three girls and three guys. As much as a relate better to guys, girls are actually quite hilarious to be around. Now one thing we enjoy doing is talking in accents at night. I think the heat really gets to our heads once it hits 9pm and we just lose it. I also think living in a house of girls has made me more girly.. eeeek. So fun story, my hair is now red.. very red. Backstory: one day Emily came back from town with purple hair dye and was like “whelp guys, my hair is going to be purple”. So after her hair was purple we totally pressured Sami into also dying her hair purple. From there on it was the spiral affect. with the darkness of my hair I thought why not.. ill go red, it will barley show up. Was I ever so wrong, I think Katie and Sami laughed for a solid hour after my hair was dyed and dried. Red talk though, ministry is quite different this month than the last. Monday-Friday we go to an old peoples home to help out and visit, during the afternoon we go to play football (soccer) with the kids around the area. It was not what ui expected at all.. the heat is pretty bad, we sweat a lot, get dehydrated, and are mentally and physically exhausted, but we still make the most of it. I made a friend at the old folks home, his name is sweet potato (what a name aye). He and I will be planting a garden together. One of the workers there loves to play cards, so I do that also. The language barrier is quite hard most days, many of them can’t speak english or speak at all. It has been hard but, I know the lord has us there to love and show love. soccer ministry was also not that we expected, with the heat not any kids want to leave their homes (I don’t blame them). So we rarely actually play soccer, we sit around and chat, or mainly just play with hair. The children loveeee playing with our hair, it is quite adorable. We then will do a skit about the Bible and then teach them some song (father Abraham is a crowd special). The days are long and tiring but we have officially made it through week one! i enjoy it for the most part, it is nice experiencing different types of ministry each month. The lord will really have to work on my heart through this month, honestly folks, I’m tired an hot but its all good! No one said the race would be easy right. The girls and I will push through!

Love from Zambia, Mara
