sorry my last two posts are out of order, wifi issues.
We made it to Nepal!!! After a long hard month in India, we got a week off for debrief in Nepal. Debrief is basically a reflector week where we can tour around, reflect on what the Lord did the last month and to get rest. Stepping off of the plane I knew I would love Nepal, and that was before the crazy week I had. We are staying in a hostel, basically a building with lots of rooms, lots of bunk beds, and lots of travelers, right up my ally. The atmosphere is so fun; there is a open room where everyone comes and chills till all hours of the night. The people here are so unique, they all come with a different story and background, the diversity is insane. Of course I jumped right in, meeting many different people has probably been the highlight of my week; I have gotten to share my story and talk about the Lord to some of them. My thing with this is that no story should not be heard, no matter where we come from we are all unique in beautiful ways and deserve to share it.
Alright so story time!!! You are probably wondering why my title is “Death by monkeys”, but you’ll get to figure that out later on. 😉
#1. So tattoos on the World Race are very common, most get them while in Nepal especially. One day Skyler decided it was time for her to get one, so we went down some random ally, up three flights of stairs, to this door that says “tattoos and piercings”… yes, it was very sketchy. The artist was super cool, I got to design her tattoo out and he started the process. As we were standing around and waiting I chimed in how I have always wanted to learn to tattoo, well I never thought at that moment that dream would come true. The artist asked Skyler’s permission and followed with teaching me how to tattoo. Yes, I got to tattoo my friend.. crazy right.
#2. One of the days Sky, Lis, and I decided we wanted to go to the monkey temple, basically a temple, with monkeys. We caught a taxi and headed that way. Well, we were not expecting to climb stairs that day, but boy did we ever. We got dropped off at the bottom of many stairs that lead to the temple, far far above us. As we are walking up we see a little boy (about four years old) just standing there crying, of course we weren’t going to just leave him. We took his hand and figured out where his mama was, at the bottom of allll those stairs we just climbed. We got him back to his mom and continued on our way, the day already seeming a little weird. We finally made it to the top, there were actually monkeys everywhere, just chilling and doing monkey things. We started to walk around and found ourselves in some random spot, in front of us there is a native playing guitar. We walked up to him and got his name, it was Alex. He asked us if we wanted a tour and we were like “sure why not”. We walk around looking at beautiful architect and scenery. Eventually we get to this more hidden garden where there were lots of monkeys, the monkeys started getting a little too close for comfort. About two seconds later all I hear is sky start screaming and monkeys coming at all of us. They grabbed our hair, pants, shirts, and arms.. it was not an enjoyable situation (no one actually got hurt in the making of this story). By this point we are not very pleased, after Alex got done laughing at us he wiped off his belt and started hitting them to scare them off. What an experience that was.
#3. The evening after the attack of the monkeys we had a hour long worship, and let me tell you, that was one of the best nights of worship I have had yet. We sang “I am free” and when it hit the notes, “I am free to run, I am free to dance” we just let loose and danced and sang our hearts out to the Lord. It was a beautiful evening and the spirit was there with us on that roof in Nepal. Sometimes we get caught up with the things around us that we miss the heart of singing unto the Lord. Letting loose that night and not caring about what others would think made it 10x sweeter of a time with me and my father.
It was nice having a week off to just relax and find rest in the lord. Ministry starts Monday or Tuesday and I cannot wait to see what the lord does this next month of Nepal.
