I’ve been reading this book called “The Supernatural Ways of Royalty” by Kris Vallotton and wow it’s so good. I’ve spent the last two days on one section of one chapter because it was speaking to me so loud.
The quote that struck me was, “ If I see what I don’t want to be, just envisioning it causes me to reproduce it.”
As I was meditating on that quote.. The question came to mind….
How many of us are focused on: not watching porn, not objectifying men or women, not choosing food over God, or not doing some sort of drug, not being like our parents, or not conforming to a stereotype or group?……
And then the Lord brought Romans 7:16 to my mind.
“For what I am doing, I do not understand;for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing everything that I hate.”
I think that in this is Paul struggling with some of the very same sin patterns as many of us fall into today.
So, how do we break out of those cycles of doing or becoming the things that we hate?
If Kris V’s quote is correct then as we focus on not doing the thing that we don’t want to do, we actually become it. What if we were to set our eyes on God and not the shortcomings as we “work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12). What would setting our eyes on God practically look like?…
“We must respond to the call of God on our lives and meditate on His vision for us.” -KV
If this is how we avoid becoming or doing what we do not want….. Then we must ask God what his vision and call on our lives looks like.
If we look at Psalm 37:4 David says,
“Delight yourself in the Lord and do good; and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Bill Johnson has a cool definition of the word desire…. He breaks into two parts…
“de”- meaning Of, and “sire”- meaning to father.
So, what is being said here is basically that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, instead of hanging out in our past or in the place of trying to not do something; the Lord becomes the sire or the Father of our dreams.
All of this said, I took some time to ask the Lord about the calls and his vision for my life and just for examples sake I want to share a few of the things he gave me to focus on.
-
He has called me to purity
-
To be loved
-
To love
-
To equip others to live kingdom lifestyles
-
To encourage others into more intimate relationships with Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit
-
To live in freedom and accept grace, but not settle for anything less than my inheritance in Christ
-
To know that I am a son and to live as a son
-
To pursue men into friendships that are emotionally vulnerable and transparent
These are the things that I’ll be responding to and meditating on, from now on. I’d encourage you to go to the Father and ask for his vision and call over your life. Write what He gives you in your journal or on your bathroom mirror..respond and meditate daily on those things and see what the Lord does.
I’m currently still fundraising for the current route that I am squad leading. Please send up prayers that the Lord would provide for this time financially. If anyone is interested in supporting the mission that the Lord has me on then check tap the donate button at the top of the blog. It’s tax deductible
