Q: Did Adam make it into heaven? And if you got 100,000 dollars and could not go back into America for a year via the last day in Dominican Republic where would you go, who would you help, and who would you invite? PS the money disappears in a year!
A: I hope Adam did made it into heaven. But, I honestly don’t know the right answer to that. If I couldn’t go back to America I would go back to Greece and help at the refugee camp. The money would go towards the camp as well. I would invite Emily Lincoln because we already have dreams to go back and serve there again some day. I would love to invite my mom as well, but she has 7 other kids so it might be a little hard to go away for a year, you know?
Q: If you only had a few minutes to talk about your experience to a group of people willing to help, which situation would want people to know first and take action to help with?
A: I would talk about the refugee camp and Hospice Eliana in Romania. Hospice Eliana was my ministry in Romania. The ministry helps bring hope to people during their final moments on earth.
Q: Are you anxious about reinsertion into American life?
A: I think every racer is a little anxious to go back to home. But, being on the race has given me so many new perspectives on so many different things, and I am excited to go back and apply what I have learned into every day life.
Q: Who is your most favorite person you met because of the Race?
A: Well, I have met so many wonderful people on the Race (and you are one of them, Em)!
Q: What perivously held belief, opinion or understanding has been most profoundly changed or impacted because of your missions journey thus far?
A: One belief that has been impacted more since I have been on the Race is that people are people no matter which part of the world you are in. Everyone longs to be loved and heard and understood. It is so easy to make assumptions about people’s lifes sometimes, but unless you sit down and hear their stories first hand you absolutley have no idea what’s going on in their lifes. So, I guess one thing I have learned the most on my journey is that don’t assume, ask. Be willing to sit and listen to people.
Q: What do you miss about your life in Illinois and what do you not miss?
A: I miss my family and friends the most. I miss having conversations with my family. I don’t really miss the corn and beans and the flatness of IL haha.
Q: What makes you happy?
A: Seeing people find hope and happiness in Jesus makes me happy. For the past 8 months I have also noticed that getting to hear people’s stories also makes me happy. But, I think seeing people find hope is still what brings me the most joy in life.
Q: Did you regret taking questions from your friends on social media?
A: Not at all.
Q: What has been the biggest thing you’ve seen God do in yourself?
A: So many things. One of the biggest thing He is still doing in me is changing my mind set. I don’t have a whole lot of self confidence, and God has been teaching me through Him I am more than enough and only He has the power to truly change people’s lifes and all I need to do is trust Him.
