Well hey there friends!
You may have noticed that over the weekend my Facebook account exploded with photos and posts. The photos are true, the posts are real, Freddy asked me to marry him on Saturday (October 8th) and I said yes.

I met Freddy on Dec 31st 2014 and made him and a few friends Mac & Cheese for lunch. At the time, I was determined to prove to myself that I was independent and I told my close friends that I was not going to date for a year if that’s what it took. When I met Freddy I was intentionally chill, giving no sign of interest, but I guess it didn’t work. A few months later, after a change of heart and some failed flirting attempts on my part, he still showed some interest and we started dating. The rest is history.
This is obviously something that impacts my life on the mission field, but I wanted to clear this up for everyone, Yes. I am still going on the World Race. I leave in January of 2017 and return November of 2017, and he will have a little more than a semester left at West Point. (We have to wait for him to graduate anyway, Cadets can’t get married). Once I’ve returned, then I will start planning our wedding and figuring out the future, but until then I am focused on finishing my year here in Colorado and loving my youth kids as best as I can. I am gearing up for training camp which begins in a week in Atlanta, and preparing for this incredible journey ahead of me.
I have been showed incredible love, and so much support. When Freddy and I discussed making this commitment to each other and God early this summer, we were blown away by how obvious God made it seem. When you’ve found that person that you want to do life with, why wait to make it real? Freddy makes me a better person, he balances my crazy and he’s loved me far better than I deserve. God has been faithful, as I’ve said and will say time and time again. Cling to Him, he will provide.
So, for my friends who want to know how he did it, he had a very elaborate plan which involved my best friend showing up from out of state, my favorite beer and a scavenger hunt. I had NO clue it was going to happen this weekend, in fact I was positive that it was going to be Thanksgiving, but I woke up from a nap with Freddy gone, and a long list of clues ahead of me. It was so fun, totally unexpected and the best proposal ever.
