Some basics for those of you just now dropping in: My sister and I are on an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries across 4 continents. We’re headed to: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Cambodia, and Thailand. The work will range from country to country in partnership with established ministries in each area.
It’s month 5. My team is in Bangkok, Thailand.
We’re teaching workshops at an English Center.
A picture’s worth a thousand words, and a video’s worth cash money. You can send that via my Venmo……..
Just kidding. I didn’t even make this video. My teammate Alyssa did. And before you watch this super cool video, a quick word about her:
Alyssa and I, like a lot of people on our squad, met at training camp. I knew her as the girl with the guitar. She sang during a spontaneous squad-wide talent show, and her original song was stuck in my head for two months.
Later we were paired up for a “get to know you” game. I learned then that she grew up alongside 900 cows on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania, played basketball for 8 years, and loves Jesus like crazy. Alyssa was put on my sister’s team and, four months later, on mine. Lys was a blessing to Miranda, and is now a blessing to me.
My teammate Taylor once joked that she thinks Alyssa lives in a snow globe. That feels accurate. She is constantly amazed, full of joy and wonder. Still, there is a strong undercurrent of maturity and wisdom that makes her sense of fun all the richer.
I love Alyssa. And Alyssa made this day in the life video. Enjoy.
