The last couple days have been pretty cool.
Yesterday I woke up early, made breakfast and coffee, went to early service at church even earlier to meet up and talk with a cool girl who is interested in the world race. After church, I hurried back to pack my bag. After, I quickly went to the post office to send a small package (the dresses I might as well not bring to Africa) and 20 post cards! Then I came back and made food and then it was time to go to our new hostel where we will be meeting as a whole squad. Hung out for the evening with no obligations. Today, we met up at 9am, had an awesome time of worship and then one of our squad leaders gave a “teaching.” It was really relatable and a great motivation. Then I got lunch and hung out in a park with my team one last time! We danced and acted silly as usual, and processed and shared memories of our time together. At 2:00, we were given our NEW TEAM ASSIGNMENTS. I love my team already and believe it’s gonna be great. Tomorrow we come up with a team name.

Along with this new team, I was honored to be asked if I would be my new team’s treasurer. I am excited about this responsibility and I believe with my organization, attention to detail, and desire to do the job well, it’ll be great! Being a treasurer is a big deal. I have to handle my team’s finances. This means giving everyone their food money, paying for our lodging and transportation, making sure we stay in budget with our supplies, writing receipts for every purchase, lots of little paperwork, sending in reports weekly/monthly, and other things. I’m excited to serve my team in this way. I also plan to be SUPER careful so I won’t get robbed, again.

We will be in Ethiopia in two nights! WOW. My ministry for the month is undefined. As of right now, I don’t know exactly where we will be staying. We do not have a host. I do know we will be in a place with 99.9% Muslims and there’s a tribe nearby called Afar.

Also, please pray for our safety as there’s civil unrest and many safety precautions we will need to follow. Ethiopia is a malaria country. I have my anti-malarial medicine and lots of vitamins, but there’s other diseases as well, that I could contract from food or water. I’m going to do all I can to be well. Those diseases sound like THE WORST.

Anyway, love you all. Stay tuned to hear more about Ethiopia, as I find out as well. <3
