Today was really cool! Around 12:45pm, I got picked up by an uber to go to a cat cafe called Catmosphere. I was really enjoying getting to know my uber driver Jirat (Key-tah). I learned that she has like 6 fur babies (cats and dogs) and I decided to invite her into the cafe, my treat. She happily agreed. We went inside and ordered our Thai teas and started to pet and adore the 24 kitties. I asked if she wanted to paint. She started making something for me, so I decided to paint her also. I asked about her hopes and dreams and apparently she had never been to this cafe before, but has wanted to own her own dog or cat cafe! How interesting.

We used google translate back and forth constantly from the time we met. There were a lot of bad translations, but we learned a lot about each other. She used to illustrate for video games and make comics, so I asked if she would be interested in helping me design my next tattoo. She agreed and we decided to go to a restaurant to eat. Because it is the Chinese New Year, there was a ton of traffic! We were trying to go to a place I wanted, but then the traffic was really bad right in the area. So she asked if I liked salads, and had a special place in mind. OH BOY, this place was my favorite!! I’ve been craving a good salad the entire World Race. This place was awesome and super focused on organic everything, just the best menu! Also there was a beautiful and huge garden out back where fresh produce was gathered for the salads. Jirat had a friend come and meet us, but because I needed to be back around dark, we had to leave before her friend could finish eating.

In general Jirat was generous, talented, kind, and open. We laughed a LOT today just realizing how bad the google translations were. At the end of the day, I translated that it was my truest pleasure to get to know her. She said it translated that I ate her and that she was delicious. WHYYYYY GOOGLE TRANSLATE. I am not willing to use it unless its with a trusted person because apparently google SUCKS.

I sure hope we will hang out again, maybe play games at the hostel or go eat. She also posted a sweet status with pictures of us. =] I think we will continue to discuss and design my future tattoo also.

I was sort of bummed that this month I had not really gotten to work with locals. We hung out for over 6 hours! It meant a lot to me to make a meaningful relationship with a Thai person who really wanted to be my friend in return.
