I truly am a believer in divine appointments. I know that God has a way of orchestrating things to happen at the right place and at the right time.

So today I held a garage sale as a fundraiser. Since I live in an apartment, my dad allowed me to utilize his house as the location for the sale. This morning during my quiet time I prayed “Lord show me who it is you want me to bless today” and began preparing to get ready to load up for the sale.

I honestly can say that garage sales require a lot of patience and willingness to compromise in the area of negotiations. As people were coming to look at and purchase things, my Dad said that one thing he learned from his experience with garage sales, is that if your prices are too high and you’re not willing to negotiate a price, you may not end up with a sale. Let me say that he was right! After not letting my grip off and not willingly wanting to ease up on the asking price, I heard the Father whisper “You’ve got to compromise and negotiate.” I’ve often been told that if you hear something once, God is trying to get your attention. If you hear it a second time. It’s confirmation. Talk about confirmation.

After that, things started to pick up and more patrons began to arrive and I began to negotiate prices in order to sale the prices.

As I was wrapping up the sale, a family arrived to look through the bin of the items, but the garage sale wasn’t the REAL reason why the Father led them there.

While I was talking to the son (who’s about my age), he began asking me what the World Race was after I told him the reason why I was having the garage sale. I explained to him that it was an 11 month missions trip to 11 different countries all to share the love of Jesus, to minister to the lost and to spread the gospel all while building relationships. He stated: “So you’re going to spread the light?” My response was “Yes. To spread the light and love of Jesus.” He then asked if I could pray for his mom. I agreed, grabbed her hands and asked her what it was that we were praying for. She stated that she had cancer. We began praying and asking God to heal her and to build her faith by leaning on him and not her own understanding. By the end of the prayer there were tears in the son’s eyes and his nieces (her grand daughters). My Dad began to tell her to memorize healing scriptures and to call herself healed. He explained to her the power that the word has “For it is sharper than any two edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).

You see, I truly believe that yes the garage sale was held as a way for me to raise funds to this missions trip and for the things I need, but the true DIVINE purpose of it was for me to pray for that lady with her son and granddaughters and for my Dad and I to witness to her and help build her faith. I know that God is the ultimate healer and that in the end his will is going to be done rather it is healing her or not. I just hope that in that moment she realized the power her words are and the advantage she has through the word of God. I hope that her and her family’s faith was strengthened and that she will begin to stand on the promises of God.

As a result of the sale, the earnings totaled $185 AND my Dad’s church sowed a seed of $215 and purchased an ad for $85 for the program book for my upcoming benefit dinner.

God is AMAZING and I can honestly say, my prayer this morning was answered! Just a note to self, you blessing someone doesn’t always have to be monetarily. Just a simple smile or a prayer can be the blessing someone needs. So look for ways daily in which you can be a blessing to someone.

Many blessings,

Ramesha Nicole
