This is a story of a miracle. It wasn’t by anything I did or said, but solely the Holy Spirit working in and through myself and McKenzie
For the past few months I have been hungry for the Holy Spirit. I’ve pursued being led by the Spirit to speak life into people I come into contact with, my team, and the community around me. I’ve felt disappointed many times. I’ve felt like a hamster running on a stationary wheel. Running, but getting no where. I’ve been so expectant of the Spirit to lead me and when I don’t feel anything, I can’t help but feel as though I’m doing something wrong.
Fear
As I walked down the street to a nearby coffee shop I listened to worship music. I couldn’t help but to throw my hands out to my sides and belt out some Hillsong. This was probably a sight to see. Here is some gringo with her arms spread like an eagle not only dodging the trash on the ground but the cars, semis, and tuk tuks flying by left and right. It was in that moment that God spoke to me so clearly.
You ask for my Spirit to move but are so fearful that I’m not going to show up
Fast forward 3 hours. I am now on a prayer walk into a nearby community with my girl, Kenzie. We roam around for a while and chatted with a few locals but kept on our way. That is until we saw her, Shoquora Shoka. Her sweet complexion and attitude matched her young 72 year old body. She reminded me of my Grammy. I already loved this woman.
As McKenzie talked with her in Spanish I felt slightly useless. I started praying. God spoke.
Pray over her legs
I told Kenzie to ask her if she had pain in her legs. Not only did she have pain in her legs for the last 20 years, but she couldn’t bend down and touch the ground.
As we laid hands on her and prayed, I felt His confirmation of healing in this woman’s body.
She stood up and started performing half squats and smiling. It seemed she was pleased with how her legs felt and told us her legs felt better.
BETTER??? My God is BETTER than better. That fired me up!
We prayed again in faith that God would heal her.
Shoquora Shoka stood up, looked at us, and then did something she hadn’t in 20 years.
She leaned over and as her hands were sliding across the pavement outside her house, I stood in awe. In awe of what transpired in this 72 year old woman but also in my heart.
God showed up big because we expected Him to. We did not box him in nor did we walk in fear.
Shoquora Shoka was healed that day but it didn’t stop there. This was the initiation I needed.
God spurred me to trust His voice in the midst of the waiting.
We walked in expectation and authority of our Father.
Mark 16:15-20
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” After the LORD Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the LORD worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
Because Jesus has all the authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18), we, as believers, have authority as well. We gotta be powerhouses for Christ whatever that looks like.
You don’t have to travel half way around the world or even two steps out of your house to make an impact on the world. Your ministry is around you. Look and you will see it.
BE that light. SPEAK words of truth. WALK in authority.
When’s the last time YOU walked in His authority?
