Light Of The Storm
There was a storm last night and probably the loudest one since I’ve been gone. I think the thunder could definitely come close to being the loudest I’ve heard yet. It was loud enough to wake me up and get me thinking.
Weather in a way can demonstrate our lives and walk with God. Some days are bright and sunny, some a little foggy or cloudy and others may consist of a small or big storm. Now think about your life, is every day sunny? Is it always storming? The answer is no, even at times when we want to say it’s always one or the other, the truth is, it’s not. Some days our lives are like a sunny day, where everything is going great and we don’t think we could be any happier. There are days where we just feel like our feet are dragging or just a little out of it, almost as if we’re in some sort of fog or have a cloud hanging over our head (Eeyore struggled with days like these). Other days may be worse and we may feel like nothing is going right or like there is no way up or a better day ahead. Just like the weather our lives change on a daily basis. Events, feelings and our views on life are always different.
You know what, that doesn’t mean that it is going to stay like that forever. God is the God of heaven and of earth. He is the one who controls the weather and can change it in a heartbeat. Just as He changes the weather, He can also change our lives. Our bad day that feels like it could last forever, could go away in an instant when we start praying and asking God to change it. It truly just depends on how much you believe in Him and if He will do it or not. 2 Corinthians 3:17 says, “Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”. When we go to the Lord when we’re not only dealing with the bad areas of our life but also the good things, He can bring us freedom from all of the storms. When I was laying in bed last night and it was storming like crazy, all I could do was smile. I wasn’t smiling because I absolutely love storms, even though they don’t bother me by any means, but smiling because the storm that was happening last night reminding me of my life before pursuing God. I was stuck in this drought in my life where it didn’t feel like there was anything good raining down on me and I was sinking into this deep, dark hole where it didn’t seem like there was a way out. Then I began to seek God and a little light appeared and illuminated the path that would bring me out. Just like the storm last night ended and began a new day of sunshine, my season of drought ended and I began a life in the light. 1 John 1:5 says, “God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all”. When we choose God we begin to follow Him in the light. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”. He is a loving God and wants the very best for us. When we come to Him with our struggles and worries, it brings Him joy because we are turning to Him for help in our time of need. Just like any good father, our heavenly father also wants to wrap us up in His arms during our time of hurt, sadness and worry. He wants to help us find a way out of the darkness and onto a path brightened by His love for us.
It’s not going to be sunshine every day. We will still have hard days because the devil is still there trying to bring us down to the dark hole again. Some days still may feel gloomy but when those days approach, that’s when we have to turn to God and pray He takes it away. The devil has always been there trying to lead us down a path of darkness but just like when you go for a walk, you have a choice to choose what path you take. Do you take the one you can’t see that could have many dangers ahead or do you choose the one where the light shines and you can see the things right in front of you? It’s the same when choosing to follow God. We’re not always going to know what plans are ahead of us but God lights the path so we can see the things right in front of us that we need to see. When gloomy or bad days try to creep into our lives, remember who to turn to. God can change a stormy day into a sunny one as long as you believe He will. We have the greatest and most powerful one on our side and the devil cannot overcome.
Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight”.
When the storm hits just remember it’ll end and be followed by a bright sunny day!
I love you all and you’re in my prayers. I pray for guidance and light upon your path. God is good and like Psalm 119: 105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path”, His light will guide you.
Thank you all for your love, support and prayers. It truly means so much to me to know I have so many amazing people following my journey with God and in encouraging me along the way. I would love to be there for you as well so please just let me know if there is anything I can be praying for.
I am still in need of financial help and would love some extra prayers for that. If you feel called to help financially you can do that by going to the donate tab above. Right now I need about $2000 to hit my final deadline by the end of November. All prayers are greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for all you do, love you all.
Yours in Christ, Paxtyn 🙂
