Trust. A 5 letter word. Easy to say, hard to maintain and even harder to regain once lost.

We trust that when someone gives their word, they will keep it, trust that people are truthful with us, trust that the sun will rise again tomorrow.

So, why is it so hard to trust God?!

We are fine and happy when life is going our way, coasting along, everything falling into place, singing hallelujah. But as soon as we hit a bump in the road and it messes with our carefully laid plans we yank that trust back and start crying ‘Why me?’ ‘God, where are you in all of this?’ ‘Do you hear me?’

Let me tell you something – God is never absent, and never blind or deaf to our cries. He will never abandon us, no matter where we are at or what we have done.

We are guaranteed to have trials in life, in fact we are told to consider it ‘pure joy’.

‘Consider it pure joy whenever you face trials of man kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.’ James 1:2-3

‘Joy??’ You say? Yes. Joy. Each trial that we overcome relying on God’s strength and not our own, strengthens our faith and prepares us for God’s work.

God has been continually teaching me, especially since starting my journey on the World Race, to trust Him, let Him take the reins and for me to stop worrying about how everything will come together. In the good times and the bad, I need to keep lifting my eyes to the Lord and continually praise Him, even when it’s hard to.

God has a plan for our lives, we just have to trust Him and stop relying on ourselves.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight’

Proverbs 3:5-6
