It is almost the end of month two, and I thought I’d update you all on what I’ve found most useful that I decided to cart with me around the world.
Here are the TOP TEN things I’m glad I brought (in no particular order):
- Luggage Scale. This was a last minute addition to my bag, but it truly has been a lifesaver. I think everyone on my squad has used it at some point on travel days to make sure their bag stays under the weight limit. Check it out HERE.
- Earplugs. I stuffed as many of these as I could into a ziplock bag, and I’m so glad I did. Useful for nights when you are crammed in a room full of people, for nights when the dogs just won’t stop barking (or the pigeons cooing), or your neighbor decides to play workout music at obscenely early hours of the morning.
- Eye Mask. Helpful for those nights you want to go to bed earlier than the rest of your team, take an afternoon nap, or catch some sleep on a bus, plane, or the airport floor.
- Portable Charger. Shout out to my brother for gifting me with a charger that lasts four whole phone charges. This is a lifesaver when you only have one plug for thirteen girls. Check it out HERE.
- Turkish Towel. Most of my squad brought quick dry towels on the race and they already started smelling during month one, but my towel hasn’t held onto the smell. It also could be used as a scarf or blanket if necessary. Check it out HERE.
- Kavu. I use my Kavu everyday to carry around the essentials: bible, journal, portable charger, hand sanitizer, phone, wallet, etc.
- Chacos. I’ve worn my tennis shoes twice, but otherwise I’ve lived in my Chacos. They handed a ten mile hike up a mountain with no problems.
- iPhone. Compact Camera. Google Translate. maps.me. Google Drive (offline mode). Spotify Premium. Kindle. Netflix downloads. World Clock. Calculator. Even without internet, this thing does it all. Also, AirDrop is my new best friend.
- Lice Comb (and tea tree oil). At least ten people on my squad have gotten lice this month (from public buses or working with kids). So, it is safe to say this baby will come in good use in countries where lice isn’t treated. I’ve also been adding tea tree oil to my shampoo as a preventative measure.
- Probiotics. With a stomach bug going around my squad this month, I’ve been glad that I decided to pack a year’s supply of these.
