There are lots of things in my life that I take too seriously. I take my job too seriously. I take that picture I post on Instagram too seriously. I even take posting blogs too seriously.
Something that I don’t always take seriously though is my faith.
My FAITH y’all!
Often times society helps in this. People will say things like, “oh it’s just one Sunday school meeting, you can skip it!” Or “Another bible study? Didn’t you just do one?”
People! It’s FAITH! We should take it MORE seriously!
Jesus says in Revelation 3:15-16, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth.”
Not the prettiest verse in the Bible. Not one most people focus on. But we should focus on this verse a whole lot more.
Jesus literally says here that He would rather us not believe in Him AT ALL than to not take our faith seriously.
He says that He will vomit you out if you are lukewarm. First…ewww. Second….that should be reason enough for us to take our faith more seriously.
An example of a lukewarm Christian is someone who just goes to church on Sunday’s and thinks sitting in the pew will get them to heaven. A lukewarm Christian segments their lives. They have their Jesus box here, their dating box there, their work box over here, and their friend box over there.
Jesus has to be our ONLY box. Every part of our lives has to fit into our Jesus box or we don’t need it.
He gave His life for you. Give your whole life for Him.
I’m writing this blog as a reminder to myself just as much for you reading this. Take your faith seriously. Take everything else a little less seriously.
Blessings,
Niki
PS. I took a lot of this from a podcast I listened to the other day. It’s called “Don’t Take Your Faith Too Seriously” by The Porch. Give it a listen if you liked this blog!
