Yesterday morning, during my quiet time, I sat at the place where we eat to read my bible and spend some one-on-one time with the LORD. Our host, Pastor Aldo, came over to me and tapped my arm. In his broken English and my even more broken Spanish he ask how my family is doing I said that they missed me. We laughed together and then he typed into google translate, “But they are happy for you?” I smiled and said yes.

Then he typed out something I will never forget. He said, “We all admire you for leaving home and following the LORD. He is going to bless you so much this year.”

I sat there smiling and not knowing what to say. I touched my chest, where my heart is and said ‘Thank you so much!’ He smiled and gestured at my bible saying he would go now and let me read before breakfast. I can’t help but replay those words in my head over and over again. Not only does this man care so much about us that he lets us live here and feeds us and takes us to get late night pupusas, but he also takes time to get to know us and asks how our families are doing.

I just wanted to write this blog to remind everyone that it doesn’t take much to make someone smile or show them how much you appreciate them. Some kind words, a hug, or some late night pupusas just might make their whole week.

Love you guys.

Stay kind!
