Wifi has been pretty scarce around here, but I’ve been enjoying a break from the outside world and having easiness of staying present here.

It is so good to be back in Haiti! We have kept quite busy since our first week of ministry. My day starts pretty early here. 5:30 is the norm for most Haitians, and I’m finding it easier to adapt to, the longer I’m here. We spend our mornings at a school in a village on the outskirts of Gonaives, called Jubilee. There we do anything from teaching science classes, to help kids practice reading English books, to prayer walks.

Walking through the village and praying for the people has quickly become one of my favorite things. There’s something so powerful about walking those dusty streets and crying out to the Lord on their behalf. I’ve once again been reminded to have a Mary’s heart of sitting with my Jesus, rather than the frantic and busy-ness of Martha.

We sometimes walk or take a tap-tap back to the team house. Our afternoon is set aside for team time and rest. Then, twice a week, we go to an English academy where we sit with multiple students and have conversations with them so they can practice their English.

Two other nights, we go to an orphanage. This is probably my favorite part. We play games, listen to a Bible lesson, eat dinner and then watch a movie with the kiddos. These children are being discipled and raised to love Jesus. Seeing their little hearts and the way they already are beating for Jesus has been such a huge blessing! They are forever laughing and giggling and giving lots of kisses.

This month, I’ve been reminded of the huge importance of relationships. It is what our ministry really has been all about; about furthering our relationships as a team, with the people here, and most importantly, with the Lord. I could not have asked for a better combination of different ministries and the people that we have had the pleasure of working alongside.

As of last week, I am officially fully funded! Thank you so much to each person that has donated over this past year and a half. We have only one week left in Haiti, which means that I have only about five weeks left on the field.

Please continue to uphold my team and I in prayer. Pray that we would be united and pursuing Jesus so deeply. Please also pray for safe travels as we make our way to the Dominican Republic next week!

xoxo,

Naomi
