It’s been a beautiful month in Trujillo, Peru! Here’s a peek at what life has looked like for us!

We’ve been working with Savage Ministries with Joel and Maria Savage; a missionary couple here in Peru! They have two churches and a school that offers free schooling to the children who live in the nearby barrios (neighborhoods). We live in one of the poorest parts of town, which also makes it a bit dangerous. Joel and his ministry strive to bring light into the dark places!

Here are some of our students! I have been helping in the 3 year old classroom, and I have fallen in love with the kiddos. They are wild and crazy and so sweet!

The ministry also offers occasional free medical clinics for people in the area who need medical attention but might be unable to afford it. Local Peruvian and American doctors studying in Trujillo come on a volunteer basis, and we got the opportunity to pray for those in the community!

We’ve tried our hand at painting around the compound this month as well! (If I look guilty it’s becasue I didn’t actually paint this……. we had already cleaned up for the day and decided to take pictures anyways hehe)

Another huge part of our month has been sports ministry!! We head out each day and walk to the nearby soccer courts to hopefully round up some of the local kids and share the love of Jesus with them! I have greatly improved in my soccer skills considering these kids are SERIOUS about some futbol 🙂

We took a weekend trip to the mountains of Cajamarca to pay a visit to the Savage Ministries church up there! It was a successful weekend with lots of fun times with the kids/youth and the community of believers in that area.

Last but not least, my team BAPTIZED ME in the Pacific Ocean! Trujillo is a beach town and it has been so nice to have the Ocean nearby!

I have been walking with the Lord for around 4 years now and have been waiting for an opportunity to get re-baptized. I was baptized around age 10 but did not understand the gravity of the symbol that it represented. It’s an amazing picture of how Jesus makes us completely new because of His death on the Cross.

We are about to have team changes for the remaining two months of the Race! While I’m excited to have a new team, it’s definitely bittersweet. I’ve been on Team Bloom for 5 months now, and they have seen my highest highs and my lowest lows. We have seen one another at our worst, have grown together, cried together, laughed til we peed our pants (Am I joking? You’ll never know), and endured all the hardships that this life brings together. This team has been the epitome of Christian community in my life and I am so grateful for each of these sisters!

I can’t believe I’m nearly on the last leg of this journey. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and support – I will be home June 22nd!

As my time is winding down, I’d love to humbly ask for your continued financial support. Our ministry budget doesn’t always cover the amount of expenses we come across in our travels and extra help is always appreciated, especially now that we have been on the field for so long. Find me on Venmo at @Morgan_McGee

Thanks again!!! Love in Christ
