As many of my family and friends saw on my facebook and social media, I was able to go to an elephant sanctuary, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.  If you know me, then you know this was one of the best days I have ever had in my life.  It was also the perfect way to end 2017.

Elephants have always been my favorite animal.  They are such gentle creatures, have an amazing memory, and are extremely invested in family.  They are so great.

For many, many years I have wanted to pet, ride, feed, and bathe an elephant.  Riding one at the state fair a couple of times was awesome, but nothing like doing all those things and getting to ride them bareback.  This was truly and experience of a lifetime. This was also the last thing I did with my previous team (Team Estuary), it was a great way to end our past 5 months together.

My mom told me before I left, that she didn’t care about any other adventure I went on, but that she wanted me to be able to go to an elephant sanctuary.  Luckily, we were in Thailand (where most of the elephant sanctuaries are) for the month of December, so it was perfect timing for my birthday and Christmas.  Getting to play with Whyweeza (Elephant), was the best birthday/Christmas present ever.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from that day:

All in all, it was the best adventure day, and present ever! My lifelong dreams came true, and I only cried one time (tears of joy, of course).
