When I started this race, I knew that it would benefit my relationship with the Lord, more than I could imagine, I would dig deeper and really press into Him. I knew that it would change my life.

Well last month, while in Albania, I had a 1-on-1 with one of my SQLs (squad leaders).  While having lunch with her, she started asking me about my own relationship with the Lord, and getting really deep.  She asked me if I had ever dedicated my life to Christ.  I honestly could not pin point a moment when I truly surrendered and was ready to give up my own will and my own desires.  I decided right then at the table to do that.  I prayed and gave my life to Christ, and Maddie of course prayed with me.

She then asked me about baptism, and I told her that I had been baptized when I was younger, because in the Catholic church you’re baptized as a baby.  So I explained that I had a feeling that this trip would be when I got baptized, by my own choice, I just didn’t know when.  I knew the Lord would let me know when it was my time.

Well, who would have guess, this past Sunday was the day.  Week ago, our mentor was giving announcements, and she told us that a church that some of our squad was attending was having a baptism, and they would be willing to baptize us if anyone felt that calling.  I was sitting in my chair, and I thought, “Oh? Lord, you want me to do it now? Already? But my parents aren’t here, they will miss it. Is this really the right time?” Then another squad mate shared her thoughts and said “There is no reason to wait.  I know this is a special moment, but there is no better time than now.  I know that some people want their parents to be there, or want to do it at PVT (Parent Vision Trip), but now is the time.” Well I don’t know about you, but I believe that is a CLEAR sign from the Lord.

So, this past Sunday, I, along with 4 other squad mates, and 1 Romanian man, got baptized.  We publicly declared our love for the Lord, and we waved the white flag.  We have now dedicated or lives to God, and we are serving him.  He is the way, the truth, and the life. -John 14:6

Also, how many people can say they were baptized in Romania?

The old is gone and the new has come -2 Corinthians 5:17
