We have officially started month 2 of our journey.  We arrived in Alba Iulia, Romania Tuesday night, and we will be here until October 1.

We left Albania a week ago, and we stayed in Serbia for a debrief for a couple of days.  Debrief was great and I will probably right a blog about that later, but for right now, this is about the journey to Serbia.

We left bright and early on Thursday morning and took a bus to Montenegro, and we spent about 5 hours there.  We were able to get our train tickets and we left at 6pm. Our team was in separate cabins, with 2 people in each one. So I was with one of my teammates in a cabin together, with 4 other people.

Once we put our stuff down, we all decided to stand outside our cabins and just look out as we passed by the country side of Europe.  We put the window down, and we watched everything flash before our eyes until the sun went down.  We watched the sun go down behind the mountains and it was probably the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life.  I just kept thinking about the song that says “God of the hills and valleys…”, I was in awe that God had made such a beautiful site.  What is even more amazing is that He knew when He was making it, that I would get to see it one day.  I think the only thing that would have made the site better, would have been if my mom was standing next to me.

My mom and I have always talked about backpacking across Europe together, and in that moment, I realized that when I get home, I would love to finally make that dream come true.  I know that she would have loved watching the sunset behind the mountains, and I am so ready to come back and experience it all over again with her.
