It’s been a few weeks but i thought I should let y’all in on life lately!
Cambodia was so good in a lot of ways but boy was it hard on us in so many ways. After being sick for a bit we decided to go get tested for typhoid (we had reason to believe that was the issue) thankfully it was negative and dismissed as a cold. But I still continued to feel a little rough and it progressively got worse, but me being me decided I didn’t want another Cambodian hospital experience (it was rough at best) so I held off and then told my leader right before flying out (oops sorry). So upon our arrival to Albania a friend (who was also sick) and I, went to a hospital here (it was amazing but quite pricey) so we had test ran there all the blood work ups, endoscopy, all the things, then once we were cleared we went to the state hospital for further testing. There we were told it was malaria (don’t freak it was a miss diagnosis) but the malaria meds we were given were KILLER!! We were also diagnosed with leptospirosis and treated for that as well. We were there for a week. After notifying our insurance of concerns we had they decide to send us to Turkey for better treatment (WHAT?!?!) so the next morning we loaded onto a plane and flew to Turkey where we were tested for all the things at the nicest hospital I’ve ever seen! Then it gets crazier… MY DAD SHOWED UP!! (Yeah I have protective parents and I’m extremely grateful for it) it was so great to see him even under the circumstances, I was released to stay with my dad for the time he was there and we had a great time! After getting test results back it was concluded that we had signs of some type of infection but due to antibiotics it was gone (shweet) and I also had a kidney infection (haha I could have told them that). So once getting the all clear dad flew back home (sad day) and I flew back to Albania with one other girl from the group and met up with my team on the farm the following day!! I LOVE THE FARM!! There’s baby pigs, and goats, and lambs and yeah it’s great and I’m thriving but tomorrow is the last day on the farm and then it’s off to the city to work in a church!!!
(59 days till Chaco’s arn’t the nicest shoes I own)
