The word the Lord has been speaking to me during sessions and corporate worship the past couple of days at launch has been posture.
I’m standing with Jesus on these angry waves, right. And there’s this big storm a brewin’, and the boat with all the other Christians in it is behind me, and in the midst of all this, Jesus is telling me to look at Him.
It is the only way not to sink, He says.
And I’m like, Jesus, the waves are telling me to look at how treacherous this place is, and the storm is telling me to look at the cost, and the boat is telling me to consider what I’ve left behind, and all the other Christians, well, they aren’t doing what I’m doing, so I must be doing something wrong…
But, still, Jesus says to look at him.
During Worship Coordinator training, I called it “sink prevention”. Constantly and steadily beholding the person of Jesus, keeping your eyes ever locked to his, is the only posture that will hold you above the waves. Period.
