Dear friends and family,
May this letter find you well! There’s hardly been a dull moment since graduating from Trinity Christian College in 2014. After college, I had an amazing opportunity to live and work in Yellowstone National Park serving with A Christian Ministry in the National Parks. Getting to do life and serve in such a beautiful part of God’s creation and sharing the love of Christ was an experience I’ll never forget. After Yellowstone, I began the job search. This led me to Milwaukee, WI where I have been living since 2014. Here, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as Worship Shepherd to a wonderful church, Grace 242. This season of relationship building, mentoring and discipling, and growing as a ministry leader have made a huge impact on me. The Lord has called out strengths in me and shown areas than need growth.
Now, another exciting ministry opportunity stands before me, one for which I feel the Lord has been preparing me for quite some time. Beginning January 2017 I will participate in The World Race, an 11 month mission trip through the organization Adventures in Missions, that will bring me to 11 countries spanning 4 continents. In each country, my team and I will serve as the hands and feet of Jesus meeting the unique needs present through partnership with established ministries. We could teach English, work in an orphanage, work in matters of social justice, care for the poor, and more! Most importantly, we will be building relationships with the local people, loving and serving them in Christ so that God’s Kingdom might be grown.
If you’ve watched the news for even a few minutes, you see the desperate need in our world, the brokenness, the pain, the need for hope, kindness, and love. Participating in the World Race allows me a tangible way to do something about it! Traveling the world, experiencing other cultures and meeting their needs, shining the light of Christ in a world of darkness is WHO I WANT TO BE, and the World Race presents an opportunity to live that right now. I truly believe the Lord has led me to this next step in my life. But, it is not possible without your partnership. I have some big needs and requests. I am asking that you prayerfully consider partnering with me.
If you feel the Lord is calling you to do so, here are some ways you can invest in me as a person, my team, and this amazing ministry opportunity. First, I ask that you consider being a prayer partner. God listens to and answers prayers! Please consider picking a specific time of day or day of the week when you will pray for me, my team, and the work we will do around the globe. Second, please consider financial partnership. This is a huge need. I have to raise $16,671 (!). This covers travel expenses, food, lodging, and ministry work in each country for the year. This is a large amount but I’m asking in faith that the Lord will use you to help me reach this goal. Financial partnership can be done through one-time or monthly gifts. Donations by credit-card can be done here at my blog. While you’re here, be sure to check out updates and posts about my trip over the next year. To give by check, make checks payable to Adventures in Missions, including my personal appeal ID, ANDERSONMEGAN, in the memo line. Third, please consider material partnership. Over the next year, my home will be a sleeping bag and tent, and I will carry ALL my belongings in a backpack! If you would like to partner by donating toward one of the items I need, please let me know. Additionally, I will be working on a number of fundraising events including selling t-shirts and a garage sale. Please share if you’re interested in partnering with these or if the Lord prompts you in a different way than listed.
Your partnership not only makes this trip possible, but it is an investment in developing me as a person and my calling, and an investment in the Kingdom of God and the needs of the world. It would mean so much to me if you would consider these requests. I would also love to be in prayer for you and your needs. I will be giving you a call in the coming weeks to share my heart for this trip and to hear about your needs at this time. I look forward to talking with you soon!
With love and deepest gratitude,
Megan Anderson
