My team and I spent this past month in the country Georgia. Georgia is truly a gem! Its bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, and is home to the beautiful Caucasus Mountains. The architecture, scenery, and mix of cultural influence create a breathtakingly beautiful environment!
We didn’t have a ministry host this past month in Georgia. Part of our responsibility is to connect with people in the countries we travel to that future teams can possibly partner with when they arrive. So, we call the month an “Ask the Lord (ATL),” month.
During the beginning of our time in Georgia, our team prayed as a group and asked the Lord what He’d like us to do specifically for the day. A couple of us felt that we should go to a certain cafe; and one of the girls had vision of one of our teammates in a cafe. So….to the café we went, open to whatever the Lord had for us along the way. Upon arrival, two of our teammates met someone that ended up connecting us to a few people who are in the country long term. I love seeing how the Lord provides! Through this connection, since we have a few healthcare professionals on our team (2 nurses and a dietitian), we had the opportunity to host a couple of women’s health seminars, hoping to help provide an avenue for some of the long-term individuals to further establish and build relationships in the community.
Also at that café, my teammate Tamara and I met one of the amazing women who works there, and were able to spend some time with her during our stay in the city. We, along with our teammate Melanie, went out to dinner one evening, and had a great conversation about our passions, what the Lord has done in our lives, and ultimately, what He did for her as well. Her response was that she desired to follow Jesus with her whole heart, and not out of obligation, or for the sake of religious tradition. It is truly a privilege and a joy to share that Jesus made a way for us to live in constant communion Him, with the beautiful people we meet each day.
ATL months help me to remember that this is the context in which I should live my daily life. Each day, God has a unique purpose for us that is essential to the body, and seeing His kingdom come here on earth. Who better to seek direction from, than the One who is omnipresent and fully aware of course ahead.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in ALL you do, and He will show you which path to take. ~Proverbs 3:5-6
We’re now heading to Armenia, which will be another ATL month for our team. We appreciate all of your prayers and support!
