What is your favorite part of the culture in Peru!?
The hospitality that the people here have as been one of my favorite parts! The people just know how to welcome people, and just show them love like nothing I’ve experienced before! It’s helped me to see how we as Christians should already be doing, and has taught me to live that out daily!
What was the most difficult thing you had to overcome being in another country?
Probably the language barrier! I knew before leaving that it was gonna be difficult, but I didn’t think it would be this hard! Also the whole not being able to flush your toilet paper, and having to buy bottled water because the water isn’t safe to drink, and having to be careful with how much water we use! Those are the biggest things for sure!
What single moment has been the most impactful, and why?
It’s honestly really hard to pick just one. God has used every moment to teach me new things and reteach me old things! If I had to pick one that has probably shaped this trip for me it would have to be my visit to the emergency room our first week here! God really used that visit to show me that it’s okay to be vulnerable and to let people see you when you’re weak, and possibly even at you’re worst. Because if you don’t they can’t pray for you and help you get stronger or help you learn from those times!
How are you going to take what you’ve learned home?
I’m so excited to take what God has taught me back home, and actually live it out in day to day life! I’m not entirely sure what that’s gonna look like just yet, but just the idea of being able to show people what God has done in me by living out, and show them the love that he has shown and taught me in the last 3 months is a huge part of this journey for me! I know that when I get home it’s going to be hard to not fall back into who I was before, and I really don’t want to be who I before. So I can’t wait to see what God is gonna continue to teach me through it!
