So if there’s one thing that I have to say will be most memorable about Peru is the taxi rides!!
I’m sure between the team and myself we could easily fill at least 15 blogpost with nothing but stories of our “taxi adventures!”, and we’re still in month one!!
The very first thing you hear when you step outside the airport in Lima is a car horn! But not just one car horn, you’ll hear at least 20 car horns!! I’ve come to discover that the only traffic law that’s remotely followed here is a traffic light! Most of the time taxis will stop on red, and go on green, but beyond that it’s likes there’s no real rules! So taxi drivers here use their horn for everything!! If they’re stopping, turning, going through an intersection, to let you know you’re going to slow or you’re in their way, basically everything!!
But today God gave me something while I was sitting in the back of a taxi on our way to do kids club, and it will forever change the way I hear car horns and view taxis and trains!!!
So while in the taxi God gave me this visual of a train going across an intersection, blowing its horn! Letting everyone know I’m here, I’m coming your way, I’m bigger than you, and I’m not stopping!! That’s exactly what God has been trying to and is telling me, that’s he is here, he is always coming after me, he is bigger than me and any of my problems, and he is never gonna stop!!
This journey has been such a great learning experience for me, not only spiritual but also personally! God is slowly starting to reveal to me who I am in him and who he is in my life! But it’s as if today he just wanted to remind me that’s he is here in all of it, no matter what, that he is so much bigger than me that he is the only one in control! He has brought me to new places of brokenness and peace all in the same moment! He’s given me a new outlook on ministry, and what exactly ministry means to me!
With 2 whole months left I can’t even begin to imagine what else God has in store for me, but I’m so excited!! This upcoming Wednesday my team and myself, along with our host will be heading up to Cajamarca to do a clean water project that God has placed on our hearts!! So if you wanna know how you can help us out with that feel free to leave a comment or shot me an email!!
