After landing in Lima Peru we spent the night at the base where we’ll be staying during the second half of the journey! Tuesday morning we woke up bright and early, had a quick breakfast and left for the hour drive to the bus stop! We got on the bus at 9:40am and left Lima Peru to head to Trujillo!! That bus ride was one I’ll never forget! From the super sketchy toilet in the back of the bus, to the movie choices that were played(all in Spanish I might add), first was Father of the Bride 2 in spanish, then it was Fireproof in Spanish(which Joshua and Myself proceeded to quote the movie back to each other!), then a hallmark Christmas movie, and then some weird, inappropriate, not family friendly movie, and there was one more movie but I don’t remember what it was!!
It was around 8pm Tuesday night before we arrived in Trujillo and met our ministry host for the next 6 weeks! We got to our base and had a delicious dinner, then we all passed out in our beds!
That next morning we started Ministr!! Our first day was super chill mostly because we were adjusting to the new environment and all that that brings with it! So we painted!! All morning long!! After lunch we had a brief break and then it was time to get ready for church! I’m so glad our first 6 weeks is here because were able to have church services we can actually understand most of!! Since our host Joel is American the services are bilingual which has been a huge blessing to me! All the singing and worship is in Spanis, but I’ve found that to be some of my best prayer time!
Thursday we painted some more, and in the afternoon we had our first taste of sports ministry which was amazing! Playing soccer and sharing the love of Jesus with those little kids will always be highlight of my time here! Friday we had our first adventur day and went to the mall first and then the beach! Where I went hand fishing for the first time and actually caught a fish!!
That brings me to Saturday mornin….. when I woke up around 4:30am in the worst pain I’d ever experienced and had to be taken to the emergency room!! Luckily it was nothing seriou and was dischraged before lunch! I was able to join back up with my team and we went to the church and did the first day of VBS for Operation Christmas Child, that was followed by our first youth night where we watched the movie Gods Not Dead-A Light in Darkness with the youth at the church!!
So that ladies and gentlemen is my first week in Peru!!!! A lot has happened since then so if you haven’t already follow this blog and you’ll get updates next time I post on here!!
