So last week a posted on Facebook for people to ask me questions and I would answer them on my next blog…so here it is!
What is the grossest thing you’ve eaten?
I accidentally ate an orange with maggots in it…I didn’t realize until I had already eaten half of the orange. My squad mates have eaten spiders, dog, raw chicken, and snakes.
Are you getting any good recipes? In Honduras and Guatemala part of our Ministry is actually helping the cooks make the food. So we don’t necessarily get a recipes but I know how to make some of them in my head.
– Different types of transportation you have had to use.
Tuk Tuks, boat, plane, bus, bikes, back of a truck, legs, and chicken buses ( basically renovated school buses that cram so many people in the bus it reminds you of chickens crammed in a crate)
– New experiences I never thought I would see or do.
See a Volcano erupt, visited one of the ancient wonders of the world, go to a Cambodian Graduation, lead a Christmas themed gospel choir in spanish with residents at a special needs home, wash my clothes on a washboard.
-Coolest thing you’ve seen God do
Seeing how God is moving in my teammates lives and my own, prophecies being fulfilled, seeing healings happen, God providing money to fully fund my teammates
– What do you miss the most?
Friends, family, being able to flush toilet paper, washer/ dryer, Chick-fil-a , driving , alone time.
– What touched you the most
The kids I met in Honduras ( I wrote a blog about them), the slum kids from Cambodia, hearing the stories about the lives of our students at the school I’m working at in Guatemala.
– What’s the scariest thing you’ve faced so far?
Dealing with all sorts of forms of Spiritual warfare, we accidently had a run in with the Guatemalan cartel, we got lost in Bangkok Thailand which is a HUGE city.
– How big are the bugs or spiders?
Cambodia had huge centipedes ( about a foot long) which could bite you, cockroaches, a couple big spiders. Honduras didn’t have a lot of bugs…well we always woke up with strange bite marks on our body….but we didn’t see them lol. We did battle with parasites though. Guatemala has lots of spiders…all shapes and sizes.
– What do you want to do when you come back home
Go to chick-fil-a, take a hot shower, wash my clothes in a real wash machine.
– How do the daily routines of the countries differ from the USA?
-I don’t know if I notice HUGE difference in daily routines. Obviously the people I meet don’t have things like cars, internet, washers/ dryers, showers, or even stoves. So instead of driving to go get something, they walk. They wash their clothes by hand, cook on a fire, take bucket showers, etc.
– What new food have you eaten that we should learn how to make and eat?Basically everything in Central America. We learned how to make homemade flour tortillas and they were SO GOOD. We learned how to make tamales which took forever but were so worth it.
What food do you miss the most from home?
– CHICK-FIL-A, salt and vinegar chips, Olive Garden, dark chocolat, wings, mashed potatoes.
– What is the most surprising thing you have encountered? Everyone stares at you everywhere you go, Cat calling is normal in Central America, my team got cat called 30 times during a 31 minute walk. How cheap the food is in other countries. How hot it was in Cambodi…we were constantly drenched in sweat.
What has surprised you the most about this adventure?
– The amount of discipleship we get, how close our team has gotten, how normal the World Race becomes, how generous the locals are in the places we stay, how much of an influence America has on the rest of the world, and how much spiritual warehouse we face daily.
