We were at “The Big Store,” its actually called Spar but still, we refer to it as “The Big Store.” We had ridden there with two of our lovely ministry hosts to help them get some supplies for a craft they wanted to do. Side note, while we were on our way there we saw a wild hippo just chillin’ in an irrigation pond. Not on a game reserve or in a protected are just simply in a pond off the side of the road, it was actually pretty cool. Anyways we were at the store doing our shopping. We were talking with locals (we’ve gone to The Big Store enough now that the workers remember our names and faces.) When we had gotten all of our goods we got in the van to head home. We were all loaded up about to drive out when Nelly (our sweet host) stopped and parked the van again. In front of where we parked was a smiling GoGo (the English translation is grandmother. Swazi’s refer to older women as grandmother or GoGo). Nelly says this sweet woman doesn’t have money for a ride home so we shall take her. The sweet GoGo climbs in the car and starts to close the door. The door doesn’t close quite right so Nelly slams it shut but instead of it slamming shut like a normal van door, it completely falls off the vehicle and crashes to the ground. My team could help but laugh. After about an hour of sitting on a curb with goats meandering around us, the swazi men working on the door finally had it back on so we could head home. But just in case we climbed in and out through the passenger door and avoided the sliding door much as possible for the rest of the day and any time we took that van anywhere for the rest of the week.
