This is happening.

In 4 months I’ll be graduating

In 8 months all I’ve even known will be flipped upside down.

It was nearly a year ago when I learned about this crazy thing called the world race… Here I am now getting ready for a 9 month trip of loving serving and growing in my own relationship with God. I can’t even believe this is real and is actually happening.

I’ve always had a passion for travel. Of course I wanted to see the pretty sights, but the real reason I was so in love with the idea of plane tickets and foreign places was because of the people and the idea of finding beauty in the differences-different cultures, different beliefs, different everything. I wanted to go and listen to people tell me all about the things they loved and learn to love people for their differences because we are all loved by the same, awesome God.

Before I found the Gap Year trip, my “life after high school plan” consisted of tentative college ideas that didn’t quite feel right but still, that was the plan – go to college, maybe study abroad, get a job, figure out life as it came. But… Everything was flipped on its head when I learned about the Gap Year trip through the World Race- a 9 month adventure to five different countries, designed for people who are 18-21, people who have a longing for something different than the normal post high school/college experience. It was everything I had been looking for. It felt right. So, I applied and here I am.

I got accepted to route 3, so I’ll be calling Lesotho, Swaziland, India, Nepal, and Nicaragua my home over the course of the nine months. I’ll get the opportunity to love, serve, and experience how God is moving in this crazy, beautiful world.

While I have full trust in Him, I know that I cannot do with without the support and partnership of you guys. There are a few ways with which you can support me on this adventure.

Prayer: I know it’s said a lot, but I do believe that prayer moves the hands of God. So please, pray pray pray! With all the uncertainties and challenges my team and I will face, prayer is going to be what keeps us moving forward.

Financial Support: One of the biggest obstacles I face is the $15,000 price tag on this adventure. While I have full trust the God provides for what He calls, I also am starting to better understand the power and importance of the body of Christ working together. No amount is too little or too big. There are three main ways with which you can support me financially.

1. Online with credit/debit: On this blog towards the top right, there is a little orange link that reads “Donate!” If you click there you’ll be lead through the process of donating online!

2. Checks by mail: First the check must be made out to Adventures in Missions with my name on the memo line and mailed to the address below. Checks are processed mechanically, so if for any reason you are sending more than one check please put them in separate envelopes. Also, please notify me if and when you mail a check in to Adventures in missions so I can stay updated on my actual support total. Sometimes checks can take weeks to process so the amount doesn’t show up in my account right away!

3. Directly sending me financial support: There are a few things the $15,000 does not cover. I am responsible for flying myself to and from GA for training camp early this summer, then again to leave for the actual trip in Sept. Other expenses include countless shots, and miscellaneous items. If you’d like to support me this way, make checks out to me specifically and then mail to the following.

This blog is the place where you’ll get to watch and be a apart of my journey so please check in! Ask questions. Cheer me on. Thank you!!
