Hi everyone! I just wanted to update you all with where I’m currently at in the world and what I’ve been up to.

First off, I’m in Peru!!!

I want to give you all an idea of what this month looks like for me. As a squad leader, we bounce between teams during the month, usually only two teams. So, for the first week, I was in Pacasmayo, Peru with team Papoula Fogo.

This team is partnering with Church la Antorcha. They’re living on a pretty big compound for the month! Half of the building is used for the after school program they have during the week and the other half is apartments. The team is living in two of the apartments. They have a beautiful lady, named Cella, that cooks their meals for them. They’re hand washing clothes and living the good, simple life this month. I got to join them for a week, enjoying the simple life and getting to do a few days of ministry with them. We taught english to adults three nights through out the week at the church, we painted the apartment building, we cleaned the after school building to get ready for school to start back this week, we sorted through and organized so many suitcases of medicine in preparation for a medical team that’s coming in a few months, we went to the youth service, learned a dance for street ministry that they do one evening a week, ATL’ed (Ask The Lord) and walked around the city one morning stopping to talk and pray with whomever the Lord led us to, and spent so much time dancing, laughing, and having so much fun!

We had an off day and walked ten minutes to the beach, where we spent the entire day together, learning how to surf and getting a little too much sun. 😉 I also got to witness something really cool. On the World Race we have this truth that we speak out a lot that says: “Life is ministry, Ministry is life.” The goal is to live on mission 24/7. Always being in tune with Holy Spirit and choosing obedience when He speaks to us. There is no on/off switch when it comes to our relationship with Jesus. So, although it was our ‘off’ day, Lauren and Tabitha saw opportunities to minister and chose obedience! Lauren was able to meet a couple of Venezuelan guys and invite them to church. Tabitha sought out a guy that had walked over to us asking for money. A few minutes after he walked away, Tabitha said she felt like she needed to go give him her apple, so I encouraged her to be obedient to whatever Holy Spirit was telling her to do. She went over to him and sat for a long time talking and getting to know him. He told Tabitha that he was having back pain, where she then got to share with him that on the way to Peru she had a dream, and in the dream there was a man that she was sitting with and he had back pain and she prayed for healing and he was healed. She knew this was the guy from her dream and she prayed healing over his back and he said that it felt better!!! Praise the Lord! I’m thankful to be doing life with these amazing ladies who know what it means to live on mission. It was truly a dreamy week with these six beautiful women.

I have since traveled to Cusco, Peru to spend the rest of this month with a different team. I will be writing a blog soon with what ministry looks like here, so be on the lookout! 🙂

With love & gratitude,

Mads
