Quick update on what life was like in Zimbabwe!
For the first week and a half, we were in the city of Bulawayo, working with Hope Ministries. In the mornings, we would spend our time in town passing out newspapers, evangelizing, praying for people, and inviting people to church. Our afternoons were spent doing house visits with people from the church and encouraging them any way that we could.
For our last week and a half in Zim, we drove hours out into the bush of Africa, to a town called Binga. We cooked over a fire, slept under a mosquito net, put our head lamps to use, and stood under the incredibly stunning stars each night, looking up in awe & wonder.
We spent our mornings doing manual labor, such as, painting a house & molding bricks. Our afternoons were spent going to shops to evangelize and walking 10-15 minutes down long dirt roads and through corn fields & forests, to get to a village that consisted of a few huts. We prayed for the sick and shared the Gospel with people who had never heard the name of Jesus before.
We got to end the month with a trip to Victoria Falls! It was absolutely breathtaking. & one the most beautiful places I’ve ever been!
It wasn’t an easy month. Actually, it started out pretty rough, but ended up being a great month where we got to see God’s glory put on display!
Andddd just like that, welcome to Month 10!
After a 12 hour bus ride from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to Pretoria, South Africa, 4 hours at the border, an 8 hour flight to Abu Dhabi, a 14 hour flight to New York, a 16 hour layover exploring the Big Apple, & a 4 hour flight, we FINALLY made it to Haiti!!!
Whew. It was a long 4 days of travel! And jet lag is no joke.
This month, we are staying on a beautiful compound in Titanyen, Haiti, working with Mission of Hope.
Our ministry so far looks like going into villages and evangelizing. They have many different ministries here, but strategic village time is the one we’ve gotten to work with so far.
I’m beyond happy to be back in Haiti and am so expectant for what the Lord is going to do during our time here!
*I have a few blogs in the works with stories from South Africa and Zimbabwe, so be on the look out for those real soon!!!*
*PRAYER REQUEST*
I have been having major stomach/digestive issues & a lot of cramping/pain in my abdomen for a week now. It started at the beginning of all of our traveling. I was able to see an RN on the compound that we’re staying at here in Haiti and have come to the conclusion that my stomach is really irritated and inflamed. I was able to get some medicine & am praying it starts helping soon.
But if you think about it or have a minute to stop and pray for me, I would greatly appreciate it!
I’m counting it a huge blessing that I made it all the way to month 10 without getting sick, but am definitely ready to be feeling better and back to my normal self!!!
Thank you all so much!
With love & many thanks,
Madison
