Only 6 days left! My squad heads off to final debrief tomorrow. I have so many pictures from the Race (and I’m not even someone who’s good at remembering to take photos) so it was hard to choose, but here are 6 of my favorite pics.

1. This photo was taken by my squadmate Kricket in Bulgaria at the elderly home. Our ministry host tried taking us there for the first time, we sang for them, gave them hand massages, and prayed over them. It reminds me not only of that one day when we got to bring joy to these people, but all the times in Malaysia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Haiti, and here in the DR that we’ve gotten to spend time with the elderly.

2. I took this photo in Malaysia, at a floating market that our ministry host took us to. They wanted us to experience their culture and try all their foods, hear their music etc. It was a wonderful day and Malaysia taught about us so much about how Asian and Muslim culture works, but at the end of the day I just love this man selling mussels he caught out of his boat.

3. I took this photo of my team in Lesotho while we were working at the orphanage. This photo pretty much sums up my team’s personality and what our month was like playing with the kids after school. I love looking back and remembering all those fun moments my team had with those kids.

4. One of our super talented interns at Impact Africa took this photo while we were out evangelizing in the squatter camps of South Africa. Despite the poverty that surrounds them, the kids in Africa were always so excited to see us and play with us, and their parents were so welcoming in those camps whenever we came by to share the Gospel. To this day it was the hardest month to leave.

5. I think a lot of us still think that Africa looks a lot like this picture. Most of it doesn’t actually- but in Zimbabwe we were lucky enough to be able to go “into the bush” as our ministry host called it. We visited the northern area, where people still live in these albeit cool looking, but poor villages with no running water or electricity. I was surprised to find out that most villages only have 3 or 4, and sometimes only 2 houses. We saw God move so much in the bush, we saw a witch doctors commit his life to Christ and burn everything he owned from their practice, we saw women who were hunched over be able to stand up and walk, and in a village like this the Lord used me to lead an elderly woman to Christ.

6. I took this picture in Haiti. It wasn’t my favorite country, but when I look at this picture this is what I always imagined the World Race to be. Trekking across slightly sketchy bridges, and up rocky mountain sides in the heat to go and reach people. On this day my team and a team from Louisiana got to be the first to visit a new church and school, and be some of the first feet in the neighborhood to talk about Jesus in that village. A voodoo priest’s wife accepted Jesus that day, and one man was so excited we were there, he decided to come with us to the rest of our houses!
