So I’ve been meaning to type this post for awhile now.
You may have noticed a few pictures of kids in my last post with my blog, the little girl holding the banana, me in a pink shirt helping a kid, the girl with the ice cream cone painted on her face.
There’s a church in a very small town in Serbia called Calvary Christian Church & Association for Education.
It’s a tiny tiny place, with little funding. But this year the pastor and his family didn’t let that stop them from reaching out to the kids in their community. I got to hear some of those kids stories, and spend an entire day with them it was amazing and heartbreaking at the same time. Some of those kids have lived through horrifying things. But for 3 days they were well fed, taught about Jesus, and got to bounce on a trampoline, play water games, and be kids again.
Being from a small town where it’s not cool to be a protestant finances and moral encouragement to carry on are a struggle.
I’m 3,500 from being fully fundraised. So I understand the stress, but I am also blessed by massive amounts of encouragement and people pouring into me. I was so amazed by all the hard work this pastor and his family put in to building his community that I asked if I could share his story. I made a video of him and all the things they do and what their needs are but it was in the smashed camera.
Ljubisa Zakovic is the pastor’s name. The church could really use a roof repair that would cost about 200 euros. But more so Ljubisa said he would appreciate people sending him emails with words of encouragement. So please, if you could send him and his family an email or add them to your prayer list this month.
The church’s address is:
Christian Association for Education and Diaconu CALVARY
Kula, 16 Divizije 5
Serbia
His email address is [email protected].
Ljubisa came out to visit us two more times after we did the camp at their church, the last time his daughter brought us ladies jewelry she made, and they brought us snacks for our trip to Belgrade. Their generosity truly is from God. So please feel free to send him an encouraging email.
My second prayer request is for Tirana. One of our teams spent time getting a Christian Kindergarten ready to open in Albania. It was going to be the first Christian Kindergarten in the country. One of our teams spent the whole month helping them get ready, and due to legal issues they have been unable to open. PLEASE pray for this school, and I know a few of you out there have some Albanian connections.
