This month we’ve been delegated more responsibilities and ownership of our journeys through the self governance of what our ministry will look like on an individual and then squad basis. This was the most exciting news for me because it’s the type of responsibility and ownership I’ll need to take a hold of in my community for the rest of my life. I won’t always have people seeing the needs of the community and giving me the direction and means by which to be a helping hand, I’ll have to see what’s needed and take action, spurring others onto helping out as well. I’m called to preach to all the nations (Matthew 28:19-20), to deny myself and take up my cross and follow Him (Matthew 16:24), and to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world (James 1:26-27). In order to continue living a life with Jesus and therefore doing all those things, ownership of my calling and my existence in general is essential. To own the things I can control: my time, thoughts, money, attitude, perspective, and responses to the things I can’t control is to live a life of purpose and worthy of the higher calling I’ve received, whether or not I live up to it. I’m excited to apply this heavy (with responsibility) concept to my daily life and create the healthy habits of living in ownership now and bring them back exemplarily for the community back home! It’s time to step into the responsibility I’ve had along and change lives through it!!
